For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to create and share mix tapes, I started by using whichever equipment there was to hand,  in later years it became whatever I’d been able to cobble together.

My clubbing years we’re spent in Manchester, I felt disenfranchised by pubs, but could go to nightclubs 6 nights a week, it was whilst frequenting these clubs I was introduced to a few of Manchester's punks, they could be found through the day in Piccadilly Gardens, I'd occasionally be invited to jam sessions playing guitar, bass or drums, I was never overly proficient on any musical instrument, but that didn’t matter with the punk ethos. I adopted their build it yourself and can do approach to make a basic multi track recording studio in my bedroom, it utilised two tape decks and a mixer, the problem with my frank n’studio was the tape decks were at different speeds, resulting in a recorded track playing back at a different speed, key and bpm than the original, the solution was a touch of jiggery pokery with a variable resistor, this enabled me to manipulate the playback speed of a recorded track, eventually this experimentation made its way to the mix tapes, I didn’t have pitch adjust on my turntable, but I could manipulate playback until it matched the bpm of my next record, I became hooked and would endlessly experiment, as soon as I could I bought the cheapest, nastiest turntables and mixer that I could find on gumtree and things developed from there.

Over the last 30 years I’ve played pubs, clubs, live music venues, functions, festivals, radio and much more, I’m pleased to say that I’m still sharing my love of music with audiences large and small, presenting a  selection of funk, soul and disco edits all mixed up with a side of unexpected nuggets that encompass my musical taste, come along and check it out.
